The founding principle of all the activities of Zdenek and Michaela Bakala is, truly, the courage, which must, according to their belief, always go hand in hand with responsibility.

The interaction of global markets and how to depict this with financial models has always fascinated me. Therefore, I completed a Bachelor in Economics and Business Administration with a major in Banking and Finance at the University of Zurich last summer.

During my studies, I participated in the UBS’ “Emerging Talent Program” and pursued a full-time internship at Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking for four months while writing my Bachelor thesis.

At the moment, I am enrolled in the Master of Science in Quantitative Finance, a joint degree program offered by the University of Zurich together with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. It combines economic theory with mathematical methods for finance.

Before my studies, I worked as a flight attendant for three years with Swiss International Air Lines where I could gather my first impressions abroad. Although I was only able to stay at the destinations for short layovers, I enjoyed exploring new places and meeting people from around the globe. There, I realized that I would like to stay abroad for a longer period of time to get to know everyday life in a foreign country.

Thus a semester abroad at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) will complement my Master perfectly. Thanks to the generous support from the Zdenek et Michaela Bakala Foundation, I now have the unique opportunity to attend classes at this renowned university. At the Sloan School of Management I will gain insight into their teaching methods and I will be able network with students from all over the world. I am looking forward to his enriching and challenging experience.
