Soon after I started with my Bachelor in International Affairs at the University of St. Gallen I discovered my interest in topics related to management and finance and therefore decided to complement my studies with a degree in Business Administration. The more I dealt with the intersections between politics, economics and business, the stronger grew my fascination for topics in the field of finance, not least because the long-term economic and socio-political impacts of the financial crisis became increasingly apparent over the course of my studies.

The high importance of the financial system within the international political and economic structures as well as my passion for quantitative problems motivated me to complete an internship in the area of Corporate Finance and subsequently to start the Master’s in Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen in September 2015.

Alongside my studies I am assisting the Swiss Research Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship with various research projects in the areas of family business and entrepreneurship, which is why I am increasingly becoming familiar with entrepreneurial finance and impact investing. It is my hope to engage in these fields not only in the course of my studies but also throughout my professional career as I strongly believe in the importance of funding opportunities for the establishment of social welfare.

Thanks to the generous support of the Fondation Zdenek et Michaela Bakala I will be able to finalize my Master’s degree with an exchange semester at the Duke University’s highly prestigious Fuqua School of Business. I am very grateful for being granted this opportunity and look forward to a very enriching academic experience.
