Like every hopeful undergraduate student, I started my university career in search of the answer to life, the universe, and everything. I soon realized that life, the universe, and everything is created, shaped, and driven by human behavior, sparking my interest in the study of the behavior of individuals. Thus, I started to look for answers in economics.

Having completed my Bachelor’s in economics, I spent two years working in the US and in Zurich. I returned to the University of St. Gallen to pursue a Master in Quantitative Economics and Finance, believing that the increasing availability of data necessitates an understanding of quantitative methods and data analysis to bring about a better understanding of human action and interaction and, thus, of the world we live in. My interest in the study of human behavior and decision making is guiding me through my education and has led me to focus on microeconomics as well as econometric methods. Further, I have also taken up a position at the Institute for Business Ethics, assisting a Professor in his teaching of microeconomics and getting familiar with the more complex problems of researching human decision behavior.

With the generous support of the Fondation Zdenek et Michaela Bakala, I am able to enrich my education with an exchange semester at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. I am grateful for this opportunity and will put it to good use improving my understanding of psychology, behavioral decision making, quantitative methods, life, the universe, and everything.
