Throughout the course of my education, I have always been intrigued by how global markets and organizations work, how they are connected to each other and how individuals can contribute to the instability of the whole financial system. Following my interest in Finance, I chose a focus on law and economics in high school and subsequently started my Bachelors degree in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen.
Alongside my studies I worked in the Sanctions Compliance department at a Swiss bank, which offered me insights into how a global bank works and introduced me to its different products and services. Furthermore, after finishing my Bachelors degree, I had the chance to do an internship in M&A consulting. Analyzing world news from a sanctions perspective made me observe how political events can affect financial markets and hence a banks activities in different geographic locations in an unpredictable way. The fact that the financial system is very sensitive to single events while financial markets simultaneously influence - if not control - essential aspects of everyone’s lives sparked my interest in financial regulation, prompting my desire to do a Masters degree in Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen.
In spring 2018, I will be spending a semester in the MBA program at Dartmouth University’s Tuck School of Business. During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to complete a semester at McGill University in Canada. This exchange proved very rewarding in terms of academic and life experience, and I am very excited about the prospect of gaining similar experience at Tuck. I would like to express my gratitude to the Fondation Zdenek et Michaela Bakala for awarding me a scholarship, thanks to which I will be able to fully benefit from my exchange
